
During the EXPO REAL in Munich last week the new model of the Universitätsviertel - neue mitte Essen was presented to the public. Lutz Lienenkämper, Minister for Construction and Traffic Nordrhein-Westfalen, and Georg Arens, Managing Director of EWG - Essener Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft mbH, unveiled the model. A vast audience of visitors and representatives of the press attended the event.
On the area of the former goods station an inner-city residential is being developed, which will connect the town centre and the university. At first the new city garten will be created; as from 2010 the first buildings will be constructed. Apart from high quality residential units by different investors building areas with approximately 50,000 square meters gross floss area for offices, services and catering are planned.

The 18th World Hydrogen Energy Conference 2010 (WHEC2010) will take place from 16 to 21 May 2010 in Essen under the auspices of the International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IAHE) and will be organised by EnergyAgency.NRW, supported by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The objective of the WHEC2010 is to provide a comprehensive platform for scientific information exchange and to promote hydrogen as a clean energy carrier as well as fuel cells as clean energy converters. The conference attempts to proclaim new technologies, foster strategic discussions, and help develop pathways to introduce hydrogen technology into the energy economy.
The WHEC2010 is an international conference with an accompanying trade fair and complementary programme of side events.
